Il nostro piccolo appartamento

Sunday 26 June
Today we moved into our new apartment - our very own space in Venice-proper. It is very exciting. Tonight I can just walk home, around the Arsenale, past the hospital, and home for a spritz with Finn outside, dangling our feet over the canal.
No boat.
No bus.
Just a walk through Venice.
Fantastic.

Taking a rest from carrying bags of books with the statue of a man with books.

Finn with books, in the courtyard outside the Agenzia Delle Entrate.

Made it.
That's our kitchen window on the corner by the canal. Our other windows overlook the canal itself.
(We have been assured that we are safe from aqua alta, so not to worry - hopefully!)

Our canal, Rio della Panada, looking out to San Michele (peeking through under the bridge - the cemetery island).

An interesting delivery passing by the window.

First dinner - gnocchi with pancetta, zucchini, and parmesan, and another bitter salad.

Getting a little behind again, here are a few more pics from home to make up for the delay. It's not quite showing the best of it yet I feel, but we'll get there...

A pot plant and cut flower delivery for one of the many cemetery supplies shops.

This is our spot for sitting out on Fondamente Nuove in the evenings and eating giant delicious cherries, looking out to San Michele.
Or, in this case, in the morning waiting for Finn's ride out to San Servolo (see update to The Wild Man post).

Podding fresh fagioli.

Eating fresh fagioli, cooked with garlic, tomatoes, a little chilli, and oregano.

Our address, in case you want to send postcards or care parcels, is...
